I thought I'd make a post just with a few beginners tips here, anyone else feel free to add to this as they see fit.
- Save up for a horse as quickly as possible, the standard horse costs 10k, you can feed the horse every 20 hours to increase speed, stamina and carrying capacity so it's good to start this as early as possible.
- Start researching your crafting items as soon as possible, initially it only takes around 6 hours per weapon or armour trait however this quickly increases the more you research and caps out at 30 days per item. Also do the daily crafting writs as these provide great experience gold and improvement items. Also get the skill points in the daily helper who mails you crafting related items. I'd also hold off refining any raw materials, if you wait till you have all the skill points in the refining perks you'll have a greater chance of getting improvement items.
- When levelling have 1 skill from each of your main 3 class skills, this way you level all 3 up as you progress. If you come to respec later down the line you'll have access to all the skills from each tree.
- Pick up the mages guild/fighters guild/undaunted skill trees as early as possible these 3 skill lines provide decent passive skills and are easy to level as you play through the game or do dungeons, you can pick them up in daggerfall by visiting the mages guild, fighters guild or Rodley lion pub for the undaunted.
