The quality of the qlyph technically is the same though isn't it? As in it still offers the same reaistance

Think it still offers whatever a purple glyph gives you, yes... But I didn't think you could swap out (exchange) a new glyph for one already existing on it

You can re-enchant as many times as you like, but you wont get the existing enchant out once placed on it.
